Thailand’s TCT forecasts 30m foreign tourists in 2023
The Tourism Council of Thailand forecasts a significant uptick in international tourist visits to Thailand in 2023. According to Chairman Chamnan Srisawat, Thailand expects to welcome at least 30 million foreign tourists this year (compared to 40 million in 2019, before the pandemic).
This forecast comes as Thailand’s tourism industry continues to recover from the pandemic. Earlier in 2021, Thailand welcomed back domestic tourists and slowly began to reopen to international tourists with stricter safety protocols in place.
The Tourism Council of Thailand has been working to make Thailand a safe and welcoming destination for tourists. Thailand has implemented a rigorous health and safety program and aggressive marketing campaigns to promote Thailand as an attractive destination for travellers.
The Thailand Tourism Authority released data on the top five tourist groups in Thailand over the first part of Jan 2023. Russians topped the list, accounting for 99,500 visitors, followed by Malaysians (89,400), South Koreans (47,400), Indians (41,800) and Laotians (41,800). According to the Thailand Tourism Authority, Chinese tourists are expected to be among the top five arrivals in Q2-2023, when arrivals from China are projected to pick up the pace.
Thailand aims to bring 5 million Chinese tourists by the end of 2023. The Thailand Tourism Authority also expects 4 million Malaysian arrivals, 2 million Indians, 1.1 to 1.2 million South Koreans and other tourists from Thailand’s top source markets.
With Thailand’s tourist industry on the rebound, Thailand’s luxury resorts and yacht charters in Phuket expect a surge of visitors over the coming few months.
Thailand is regaining its top spot for travellers looking for an unforgettable Thailand experience. Thailand is one of the world’s most beautiful and enticing travel destinations. With Thailand’s beaches, culture and cuisine all in one place, Thailand is a must-visit destination for luxury travellers. Thailand is a compelling and unique destination for tourists looking for fun, adventure, luxury accommodations, and unforgettable experiences.
