Singapore, 30 January 2023: Elite travel curator Luxury Tribe is pleased to announce the first in-person event of the Luxury Tribe India and ILLUME. Taking place from 15-17 March 2023 at Leela Palace in India’s Pink City, Jaipur, the show follows two years of well-attended digital editions where industry experts and high-end hospitality brands explored the breadth of opportunities in India’s luxury travel sector.

Similar to its virtual counterparts, the Spring/Summer edition — an invitation-only event comprising of ILLUME on the first day and two days of Luxury Tribe India marketplace — will facilitate meetings between India’s top luxury travel buyers, travel designers, and global luxury travel brands seeking to tap into India’s robust market. Travel intelligence platform Skift sees Indian outbound travel fully recovering next year, with demand expected to outstrip that of former travel giant China.

“The potential opportunities for travel providers in India’s luxury sector, and brands looking to cater to it, are immense,” remarks Sheetal Rastogi, Founder of Luxury Tribe India and Editorial Director of World Travel Magazine. “Travel inspires, and Indians want to light that spark again.”

Produced by World Travel Magazine, the leading consumer luxury travel and lifestyle publication in Southeast Asia, Luxury Tribe India will pair selected participants for up to 36 pre-scheduled, 20-minute meetings, host networking sessions, and stage expert-led panels.

“After a tough couple of years, we are excited that people can rediscover the joys of travel,” notes Rastogi. “By hosting the event in person, industry insiders will make meaningful connections that will ultimately benefit every affluent Indian passionate about travel.”

The March event will be the first of two in-person shows this year and is expected to welcome more than 60 high-end buyers and travel curators from over 15 cities in India — from Amritsar to Chennai, Mumbai to Kolkata. These luminaries will be seeking exclusive moments that global luxury travel brands, boutique hotels, DMCs, and tourism boards can provide to the affluent Indian holidaymaker.

“Indian travellers are incredibly sophisticated, worldly, and inquisitive,” continues Rastogi. “There is pent-up demand from them; they are keen to see what they have been missing and want unrivalled experiences.”

The inaugural virtual edition launched in September 2021, at the height of the global pandemic, attracted almost two dozen luxury travel brands. Two shows held in March and September of 2022 marked significant progress, respectively up 10 percent and 23 percent compared to 2021. The list of brands has been equally impressive, among them Virgin Limited Edition, COMO Hotels & Resorts, Madinat Jumeirah Dubai, Alila Villas Uluwatu, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, Liz Mcgrath Collection, Seychelles Tourism and Raffles Bali, and at each event, an average of 50 buyers from India were present.

“We scout around the world with zeal to find the unusual. We hop continents and carefully select partners who can deliver what our clientele wants,” says Vish Gopalakrisnan, Director & CEO of Footprint Holidays. “Luxury Tribe is a great opportunity for Indian luxury buyers to meet the world’s travel trailblazers, and now it will happen in the comfort of our own country!”

Taufik Rahman, Senior Global Director of Sales in Asia Pacific for COMO Hotels and Resorts is eager to further capitalise on the success of previous editions and adds: ”One of our goal this year is to really develop the Indian high-end market, and based on our participation last year, Luxury Tribe is the only trade show bringing both quality and quantity of Indian buyers to which we can promote unique destinations and bespoke holiday programs.”

The proceedings open on 15 March with the travel ILLUME, where expert-led panels will explore luxury travel for affluent Indians — spending habits, trends, preferences, and forecasts for the next 24 months — followed by an opening party. During Luxury Tribe India’s marketplace, attendees will enjoy a gala dinner, networking opportunities, pre- scheduled meetings, and a closing party. For buyers, the show offers invaluable networking, while international hoteliers, tourism organisations, and DMCs keen to access India’s booming luxury travel market will encounter an exhibiting opportunity not to be missed.

“I attended Luxury Tribe India’s first web-based interaction between suppliers and buyers,” explains Vinitaa Rawat, Founder and Director, Amazing Vacations. “I got to know the emerging trends and developments in the luxury travel market and made some great connections. I am excited to attend in person in March.” And to harness the momentum of this dynamic community, a second Luxury Tribe India in-person event is planned for Autumn/Winter between 26-28 September 2023.
